CANVAS HACK HITS THOUSANDS OF SCHOOLS…..A massive cyber-attack against Canvas…..which is an online platform used by students, K through 12, colleges and universities….this attack happened just as final exams are underway…..the hackers say they stole the personal data belonging to students….more than 275+ million people had their data stolen in this cyberattack….this online tool is used by schools across the country…..the program is used by teachers and students to upload assignments, communicate with each other, study and check grades….some students logging on were met by a ransom note by the hacking group “Shiny Hunters”…..warning their schools to negotiate a settlement…..saying, they have till the end of May 12th 2026 before everything is leaked….they accessed users personal data, names, email addresses, student ID’s and several billions of private messages among students and teachers….UPDATE: Canvas is back online but a lot of questions are being asked about the safety of students data….some universities are still postponing their final exams…..Canvas’s parent company Instructure said they found no evidence that the threat currently has access to the platform and they are putting additional protections in place…..and here y’all thought that racist South African Elon and his Russian hackers friends were gone…..why someone would put all their info on this portal is beyond me…..school work, teacher conversations….sure…..but your personal emails and text messages….a definite no….and no one thought backing up the “all of your information” was a great idea?…..I have my stuff saved on so many portable hard drives….I back up the backup….and then back that up.
