…..I’ll say it again…..sell it all and move across a pond…..Spanish schools are so desperate for native English conversation assistants…..they’re willing to pay €1,000 monthly for 12 hours of work per week….and you’re not really teaching English….you’re just talking….and the program pays for your visa….health insurance and gives you free time to make another €2,000 from private lessons….the healthcare alone is worth the job…..this is called the Auxiliares de Conversación….and Spain needs 4,000 native speakers every year….they’re accepting basically anyone with a college degree….schools in small Spanish towns are literally begging Americans to come talk to their students….a few entire towns want private lessons…..normal teachers make €3,000 monthly working 20 hours weekly….while living in places where the rent cost €250….and trust me….that ain’t shit to pay for a place to live in…..here’s the difference when it comes to teaching….Spanish teachers teach….those connected to the Auxiliares don’t teach….they just talk, have conversations, play games….and make English more real….instead of using a textbook….it’s pretty cool….you’re not responsible for curriculum, grading or discipline…..Spain wants bilingual citizens…..the European Union demands it….companies are requiring it….but most of the Spanish English teachers often have terrible pronunciation and no conversation skills….yes, they can teach grammar….but can’t hold natural conversations…..the government has allocated 4,000 positions and many regions are fighting for Auxiliares…..and here’s the best incentive for making this move….Madrid and Barcelona get the most applicants…..small towns aren’t that popular….basically, no one is applying for the small town gigs….but the small towns are where the money is….towns like Don Benito, Villanueva, Almendralejo…..they receive zero auxiliaries….but if you show up….you’re treated like royalty……you charge €25 an hour….20 hour work week….you make €2,000 a month…..plus the €1,000 from the school….and your rent is €300 a month…..how much cash do you really need to survive on is the question…..I’m sure there’s a nearby town….who could also use your talent…..a couple from Oregon live in one of the mountain towns….they have a combined €2,000 from the program…..€4,000+ from private lessons….the rent for a house and a garden is €400…..and they’re living better than they did on $100,000 in Portland.
