WHY CAN’T WE STOP HOMELESSNESS?…..This article listed four reason why there’s no end to it insight……More people than ever are being housed – but an even higher number are falling into homelessness……that is true…..they say the unemployment rate is dropping…..but the person who’s company just went under…..can’t meet the house note….and the family is now either sleeping in a car they hope not to lose…..or under a bridge…..may see things differently…..Rents are out of reach for many and millions of affordable places have disappeared…..no question…..the average rent for a “BOX” in Hamburg is…..1,600+€ a box…..and expect that to go up the following year…..Zoning laws and local opposition make it hard to build housing for low-income renters……because people with money…..don’t want to live next to people…..with less money……and many of the people with money never realize…..one day…..they could be sleeping under that bridge…..Pandemic aid programs that helped keep many people housed are winding down…..man, COVID screwed up a lot of lives…..and some families can’t recover or get back on their feet……I know many of you don’t live in cities…..but have you noticed abandoned building just sitting…..abandoned?……and think how many people on the streets could live in it……I left the farmer’s market the other day and was walking down one of my favorite streets lined with apartments I know we can’t afford…..and I walked past a hotel…..first time I noticed it…..and saw it was empty……and it was a massive building…..and I thought about all the people I passed living on the streets……who could have a roof over their heads…..my brother came up with a wonderful idea and if I come across the cash…..I’m investing in it with him…..you know all those empty mega-shopping mall that went broke……turn them into housing complex…..for senior citizens, affordable housing…… you can have medical, shopping conveniences….all the necessities in one area…..food court…..security…..you name it….and you can do the same with others empty malls….instead of tearing them down….or letting them sit there empty…..but as usual…..good luck with cities coming up with a plan to help the homeless problem……it’s much easier to bitch about it…..than try and solve it…..I’ve spoken with many people on the streets….who actually like it and feel safer living on the streets….and many who don’t……talented humans…..doctors, engineers, teachers, chefs, architect’s…..etc…..who hit a bump in the road…..and never recovered.
