PEOPLE ARE TOSSING THEIR ZIPLOCK BAGS AFTER A DISTURBING NEW CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT…..Well, I guess we’re back to putting school kids sammiches back in brown paper bags….S,C, Johnson & Sons Inc. was being sued for misleading packaging on Ziplock products….and the products in question being made with polyethylene and polypropylene….have been medically and scientifically proven to have the potential to….release microplastics when subjected to extreme temperatures…..since it has been proven that microplastics are potentially dangerous….these bags are marked as microwave and freezer-safe…..if you’ve been microwaving and freezing in Ziplock bags and containers….you have unknowingly released microplastics in your foods…..and you may ask how dangerous are microplastics?……Dr. Alex LeBeau……a toxicologist and certified industrial hygienist said….it depends on a lot of factors…..like the size of the particles….and how the body is exposed to them…..be it ingestion, inhalation….or through skin contact and how much of the substance interacts with the body….. although there isn’t enough research to conclusively say how dangerous microplastics are….they’re still harmful to the human body…..recent studies suggest that these plastics have been found to contribute to strokes……bottom line…..more research is necessary to identify an actual cause of harm…..and the spokesperson for S.C. Johnson says….. “We believe Ziplock products are safe when used as directed…..and the claims in this lawsuit are without merit.”
