MOSCOW CONCERT ATTACK….There’s been a few vicious attacks in Russia…but this one is a doozy….this attack was carried out by a group called….ISIL….and this one left….over 133 people dead and hundreds wounded….ISIL is an Afghanistan branch and remains one of the most active..…it takes it’s title from an ancient caliphate….in the region that once encompassed areas of…..Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Turkmenistan….they emerged in the late 2014 and is made up of breakaway fighters…..mostly Pakistan Taliban and local fighters….who pledged allegiance to their late leader….Abu Bakr-al-Baghdadi……eleven people have been detained…..including four people directly involved in the attack….ISKP (ISIS-K) has claimed responsibility for the attack….this attack happened at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall before a performance by a Soviet-era rock band…..assailants dressed in camouflage uniforms opened fire and threw explosive devices inside the concert venue….which was left in flames….with its roof collapsing after the attack…..this has become one of the deadliest terrorist attack in Russia in two decades…..Russia has seen several attacks by terrorist….reportedly from Chechnya and other regions in the North Caucasus…..some were religiously motivated….some were carried out by separatists with political demands….the fight against these attacks has enabled the Kremlin to consolidate power and restrict political and public freedoms…..1999 Apartment Bombings…..four explosions hit apartment blocks in Moscow, Buynaksk, the Republic of Dagestan and Volgodonsk….the blast killed more than 300….left over 1,700 injured and spread fear among millions across the country…..2002 Moscow Theatre Hostage Crisis….Chechen militants seized the crowded Dubrovka Theater in the center of Moscow…..more than 900 audience member and performers were taken hostage….the attackers demanded the withdrawal of Russian troops from Chechnya….after three day of negotiations Russian special forces stormed the building….after releasing a gas into the auditorium….all 40 hostage takers were killed….130 hostages died….and several hundred were injured…..largely due to the effect of the gas and late medical assistance….the chemical of the gas has been kept a secret…..2004 Beslan School Siege…..armed terrorist occupied a school in the town of Beslan in North Ossetia….they took more than 1,100 hostages….including 777 children…..the hostage takers were also Chechen rebels under the command of Shamil Basayev….who also demanded Russian troops withdraw from Chechnya and demanded recognition of the region’s independence…..this time Russia did not engage in negotiations….on the third day…..special forces stormed the building…..allegedly after the terrorists detonated bombs inside the school….the hostage takers were killed….334 hostages died….including 107 children….2010’s Suicide Bombings…..several suicide bombings took place in Russia….most of them were linked to jihadi militias  from North Caucasus….in March 2010….two suicide bombings were carried out in the Moscow metro…..killing 40 and injuring more than 100…..in 2011 a bombing took place at the international arrivals hall at Domodedovo airport in Moscow….killing 37 and injuring 173…..October 2013 a bomb exploded in a bus in the city of Volgograd….in December 2013…..two other bombings happened at a train station and on a trolleybus….more than 40 victims died in the attacks….April 2017 another attack with explosive devices took place in the St. Petersburg metro…..killing 15 and injuring 45 people.
