A COUPLE’S TRAUMA AFTER A BODY WAS PLACED NEXT TO THEM ON A FLIGHT….This happened to an Australian couple on a Oatar Airway flight….a woman died in the aisle beside them on a flight to Venice, Italy…..and the cabin crew basically said….. “Oh well, let’s prop her here in this seat….and throw a blanket over her for the next four hours”……and there were plenty of empty seats available…..yeah, the couple freaked out…..Qatar had the nerve to apologize for “any inconvenience or distress” this incident may have caused….but here’s where I don’t understand the trauma…..the woman collapsed…..they performed everything possible to save her…..the crew tried to move her to business class….but she was a large lady…..and they couldn’t get her through the aisle….so they asked…..Mr. Ring….one of the two trauma victims…..if he could scoot over so we can place her in this empty seat…..and he said “No problem”….so they dumped her next to them…..now Ms. Colin…..the other traumatized person said…. “Screw that”…..and moved to an empty seat…..and Mr. Ring said he wasn’t given an option to move to another seat…..really mate?……when the cabin crew asked to seat said dead person next to you….you could’ve said…. “Oh, hell no”…..or moved like Ms. Colin did…..anyway,…..finally the plane lands…..everyone is told to “Sit”…..until the medical staff can remove the body…..and while they were doing this….the trauma couple caught a glance of the dead woman’s face…..poor Ms. Colin’s said…. “We totally understand that we can’t hold the airline responsible for the poor lady’s death…..but there has to be a protocol to look after the customers on board”…..look Ms. Colin…..it’s a long haul flight…..you’re flying from Melbourne to Doha…..she passed away somewhere between the Maldives and the Seychelles…..what are they supposed to do for the next four hours?……when a passenger passes away….it depends largely on when it occurs…..and where it occurs…..and what the crew have in terms of facilities to place the body somewhere…..because on an airplane….there’s no access to the hold…..there’s a crew rest area…..but that’s for the crew…..so it could be problematical….I would think the crew would try and isolate a body…..so there is no passenger exposure to the body…..for respect and privacy….and also for medical reasons.
