…..There is no solution to policing based upon economic boycotts. Case in point. Before Laquan McDonald was murdered, the police officer who killed him had cost the City of Chicago $500k. Approximately 10 times his annual salary. The reason McDonald’s death came to light is because the city authorized a payment of $5 million to his family. A single police officer had cost the city $5.5 million abusing Black bodies and he was not fired until convicted of murder. Chicago, N.Y. and LA have spent billions on these payouts, and nothing changes. So, what economic event might McDonald have been participant in that would make the police treat him better than the $5.5 million one rogue cop had cost them? Nothing. His body. Your body. Our bodies are the transaction. For Black people to think there is an economic solution is to revert to what I call “Transactional Subjectivity”: you are worth something because you are worth something. We have seen that before on the slave block and beyond. Policing will not yield to economics. It’s not about that. It’s about using terror to discipline Black Folks and secure white people in their position of freedom that is only legible against the unfreedom of Black Bodies. Period.
AIR FORCE ADMITS PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT RACIAL BIAS AGAINST BLACK AIRMEN, RECORDS SHOW…..Excuse me while I laugh at this….Air Force officials are saying black airmen were twice likely to face punishment as their white counterparts….and their services are not as valued as their white counterparts….let’s take a trip down memory lane…..Tuskegee Airmen….African-American men…..who were called anything but that…..and who were categorized as too ignorant to handle such complex machinery..…they saved more lives on bombing missions during WWII than their white counterparts….and they were issued the worse assignments before the military realized…..maybe, it might be a good idea to use their talents….and that was the beginning of the Red Tail squadron…..and while I’m on the subject of racial bias during wartime…how about….The AMERICAN REVOLUTION…..Crispus Attucks….Edward Hector…Austin Dabney and William Lee…who was George Washington’s right hand man. …..moving on to WORLD WAR I…..more than 350,000 African-Americans served to fight for their country….while dealing with and attempting to overcoming racial hostilities back home….these men demonstrated through their service….a love of country, patriotism and the importance of equality….and we all know how well that went…..they defended America’s freedoms abroad while being denied those rights back home…..and let’s slide to….WWII…..you ever heard of the 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion?…..they landed on the beaches of France under heavy fire, tried to stay alive and get the balloons up in the air…and because of them….allied soldiers stormed the beaches and seized a much needed D-Day victory….Waverly Woodson….a college student who was injured by shrapnel….was recommended for the Medal of Honor….and guess what?….he never received it….so, what useless war was next…oh yeah,….The KOREAN WAR….and this was the last conflict involving segregated units….the 25th Division 3 infantry regiments was the Army’s last black 24th infantry…..and the largest unit to serve in Korea….they say this unit did poorly during the conflict and was disbanded and singled out for cowardice and unreliability…..when American were buried in a military cemetery near Seoul, Korea….the 24th’s unit markers were painted yellow….later their honor was restored because the truth came out…its failures were directly attributable to neglect, inferior white leadership and institutional racism…..VIETNAM…..a cluster-f….of a war which wasn’t necessary and wasted many lives…..unless you were investing in the drug trade…..here’s a list of African-American Medal of Honor recipients….25 during the Civil War…..18 during the Indian Wars….6 during the Spanish-American War…..Freddie Stowers was the first of only two African-Americans to receive one during WWI….Henry Johnson was the other one….he fought against a 24-man German raiding party….dude was a badass….no African-American was awarded a medal during WWII….this changed in 1992…when a study conducted by Shaw University asserted that systematic racial discrimination had been present in the criteria for awarding medals during the war…..more than 50 years later….President Bill Clinton awarded the medals to seven veterans…..Vernon Baker was the only living recipient…..2 received the medal from the Korean War…..20 from the Vietnam War……and still African-Americans love their country and are willing to sacrifice their lives for freedom….a freedom many cannot enjoy…..and yet…..you many wonder why I laugh….when the Air Force admits a persistent and consistent racial bias exist against black airmen.
LeBRON JAMES SAID SOMETHING….In regards to George Floyd’s murder….the African-American murdered in Minneapolis by a police officer…..and Kaepernick taking a knee to protest the senseless killings police officers are getting away with….LeBron posted this on Instagram…. “DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW? Or is it still blurred to you? Done being quiet and done being angry. How can we feel safe when those meant to protect us are killing us? When will minorities be free to be Americans in America?”…..Stephen Curry wrote this….. “If this image doesn’t disturb you and piss you off, then idk. I’ve seen a lot of people speak up and try to articulate how fed up and angry they are. All good and well but it’s the same same same reality we live in. George Floyd. George Floyd. George Floyd has a family. George didn’t deserve to die. George pleaded for help and was straight up ignored, which speaks loud and clear that his black life didn’t matter. George was murdered. George wasn’t human to that cop that slowly and purposefully took his life away.”…..I really hope….those of you who do not walk in our shoes….understand what we’re trying to say…. “WE ARE SICK OF THIS SHIT!”
COLIN KAEPERNICK…..“When civility leads to death. Revolting is the only logical reaction. The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance. We have a right to fight back!”…..I hope it doesn’t come to that….but if it does….America will see and experience something….it has never seen nor experienced…..and it won’t end well….you can only abuse someone for so long….until they react….over 400 years of the same treatment…..no!….this is what Petal, Mississippi mayor had to say about George Floyd’s death….. “If you can talk – you can breathe”…..and people wonder why African-American’s are pissed off…..to correct Gil Scott-heron….the revolution “WILL” be televised…it WILL be videoed…..it WILL be uploaded….and the entire world WILL see…..and if things continue on this way….to quote Sly Stone…. “There’s a Riot goin’ On!”….and I agree with Ava DuVernay; “It’s not our job to explain to white folks how to combat racism.”….and my favorite line is…. “I’m not racist”….after someone proves to the world….that they are…..someone said…. “Maybe it’s time for black people to obtain gun permits”….is that the correct path to take?….if you’re exercising your 2nd right, sure….if it’s only for violent purposes….no….but we have tried sit-ins only to be met with violence….we’ve tried peaceful protest….only to be met with violence….we tried non-violent movements….only to be met with violence….so maybe it is time to try it the Malcolm X way….. “BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!”…..and protestors might be taking those words to heart…..because Louisville, Kentucky, New York, Denver, Colorado, Los Angeles, California and Oakland, Birmingham, Alabama, Columbus, Ohio, Phoenix, Arizona….all held protest marches….buildings burned, property was destroyed….and basically, people were expressing one point…..they are tired of the police killing people and getting away with it…people were tear gassed, shot at with rubber bullets and a few people died…..is destroying property the way to go about it….I don’t think so….is it right for white looters to get away and have African-Americans take the blame….I don’t think so….is a photograph reappearing right now of NYPD’s finest wearing sweatshirts saying,…. “I CAN BREATHE” appropriate?…..definitely not….but there is one thing I think we all will agree upon….. “STUPID” calling the protestors “THUGS”…..threatening to call in the military to squash the problem….and this…. “When the looting starts – the shooting starts!”……is not helping anything at all….and if he wants to issue an executive order to shut down free speech….fine, as long as he also shuts TFU….saying protestors are nothing but out of control thugs….and Charlottesville, Virginia White Nationalist protestors are good people…..makes me ask….does anyone else find this strange?…..one more thing before I shut up and have a beer….am I the only one who thought this was pretty weird….the State police arrested a black CNN reporter….live on camera while covering the situation in Minneapolis…..and not his white colleague?
