OVER HEARD ON THE SUBWAY….. “I LOVE YOU…..BUT YOU DON’T LIVE IN MY WORLD”……When I heard that….I tapped my headphones to pause….because I wanted to hear this….so I turned my head to look at the next stop coming up…..which  I already knew….but really wanted to check out the reflection on the window….and I saw a black dude sitting with….I guess was his wife….girlfriend….maybe something future….who was not black……and tuned in….the conversation went something like this…..he was looking for a job….but the only ones offered to him were….kitchen shit…..cleaning the streets….basically bullshit jobs….which are offered to a certain race of people…..because society feels and thinks…..that is your place….a nice way of letting you know…you will not advance any further within the workforce….in the society…..you are part of……and as they continued to speak…I found out that this guy was qualified to work in the marketing, computer and teaching fields…..and he had the papers to prove it….but for some reason…..every job he applied for….offered him something lower than he was qualified for…..that reminded me of a guy I met years ago….who was from Africa…..forgot which country….and was hired to design the control tower computer programs for the new Munich International Airport….and when he finished….he decided to apply for a job at Siemens…..they offered him a broom and a mop……even though he was over qualified….for a broom and a mop…..but that was where society saw him….I remember being at a party….having a conversation with a circuit court judge….and listening to him tell me….I should work in a kitchen scrubbing floors and washing dishes….instead of being a singer…..I just looked at him….and realized where he thought I belong in his…..social hierarchy….and then I smiled at him…..because I knew I made more money in six months singing…..than he made in a year…..I knew what this guy was feeling…..been there…..still there…..so whomever he was with…got out at the next stop…..and as fate would have it…we both got out at the following stop…..before he went down the stairs….I pulled him aside and said…. “I’m going through what you feel…..I know….but know this…..this isn’t the only country in Europe….and do what you have to do….until you can do what you want to do.”
