MALAGA, SPAIN…..DAY 1

……And the trip started early…..like 2 in the morning early….to catch a 6:10 flight…..I had an espresso that would’ve killed a goat…..so I could stay awake…..check-in….security….and a two hour wait to board…..so we board….taxi away from the gate….and bam…..medical emergency…..an older woman wasn’t feeling well…..later, we finally hit the skies….and Nicole starts laughing…..because there are two things that always happen to me when I fly….on pond jumpers…..out of all the seats on the plane…..I always get the seat where the monitor is broken….AND….there’s the idiot sitting behind me who doesn’t realize….constantly bumping my seat will get me jail time…..anyway,….3 hours flight and we landed in Malaga….now the airport is bigger than I thought it would be…..and two…..retrieving your luggage…..rates second to retrieving your luggage in Rome…..the sign said…..Helsinki, Copenhagen and Hamburg….yep, a lot of people waiting….so the other two cities passengers got theirs….and Hamburg disappeared from the board….ok,…..where’s Hamburg’s luggage you say?…..I said the same thing….it was supposed to come up on belt 45…..I took a walk and the baggage handlers decided….putting it on 41 was a great idea…..I found it….yell at the people waiting at 45…..and told them to run down to 41…..so, subway to the city…..and Google map lost its intellectual AI ability to find the hotel…..it said go this way…..we did…..then it said….go that way…..did that to…..after about five different routes…..and getting a short tour of the center of the city…..Google map was lucky it didn’t find its way into the nearest garbage can….but we eventually found……APARTMENTS CASACHINITAS (Pasaje de Chinitas 13)…..and it’s a nice place…..fully equipped flat, comfortable and dead center in the city…..since Google maps Christopher Columbus dumbass already gave us a small tour…..it cut out a lot of walking because we’d already seen a lot….so we walked in a different direction….now if you’re hungry…..and you can’t decide what to munch on….you’re just plain stupid…..trust me…..you will pass out looking…..there is no shortage of restaurants in the city center…..and the one thing I love…..are all the little alleys you can walk down….shops stores…..everywhere…..and more restaurants to choose from…..it’s ridiculous …..it’s a maze….really, I felt as if we were caught in the “Mazetrix”…….one thing Nicole and I always look for when we’re hungry…..is the restaurant filled with the locals…..not the tourist ones with workers standing in the doorway….holding menus and trying to drag you inside……and we found one…..ROMANCERO (Pasaje Chinitas 11)…..about 20 feet from where we’re staying….. because the last thing we wanted to do was…..walk around and look for one….and the man working there remined us of our friend in Den Haag, the Netherlands…..Gianni…..remember him?…..anyway,…..so we ordered the eggplant with cheese…..Iberian ham with cheese…..and panko prawns….yes, of course we washed it down with a glass of sangria….hey, when in Spain…..and the food was so good…..and the sangria…..I had two……sangrias…..after a few burps…..Nicole screamed…… “BEACH”…..ok…..there were so many different areas to choose from and we had no idea which one to choose….so we did what we always do…..hop a bus and get lost…..the #7 worked for us…..and the bus driver was so sweet and beautiful…..we got out at the stop she suggested and walked towards the beach…..when we arrived I wondered….in a city with a population of 8 million….why was half the population tanning and swimming instead of working?……way too crowded…..really……half the city population was chilling on the beach….Nicole got her feet wet…..and we headed back to the bus stop to take us back…..and it was the same driver…..hopped out near our place….walked around….and passed by a coffee shop called….. NEXT LEVEL SPECIALITY COFFEE (C. Panaderos 14-Distrito Centro)…..Nicole had an ice coffee……I had a slice of cheesecake to go…..it didn’t make it….I ran back and let everyone working there know….. “THIS CAKE IS SO DAMN GOOD”….the workers all laughed…..even the guy sitting outside with his girlfriend…..headed back to our apartment and I yelled to Nicole….. “SANGRIA”……we sat talking to a Dutch guy who had his phone stolen and was flying out the next day…..he used our phone to check his flight info and we had a great talk about everything…..favorite cities we all traveled to…..our favorite ones in his country…..and yep,…..I had another sangria…..hey, they’re good….we said our goodbye’s…and Nicole and I walked up and down again…..in and out of the “Mazetrix” alleys looking for another restaurant…..tapas are cool but after a while…..you want something different……so, we picked an Italian pizza spot……DA TONINO (Calle Cisneros N13)…..and that was the worse watery pizza…..ever…..finally realizing we’ve been up since 2am….and it’s now going on 10pm…..and Nicole walked over 16,000 steps…..I didn’t kill her socks like I did in Barcelona  because she was wearing sandal’s  ….it was time to pass out and go to bed…..and we did both…..goodnight.
